Photojournalism captures a memory or a story in my eyes. Photojournalism surrounds us, it can show us life before we were born, life during tragedy, and life after death. Recording life and its journey is important. Photojournalism connects humans together through similar passions or interests. Images are important to explain or show a news story, and that is exactly what photojournalism does. Photojournalism gives us the opportunity to live through a time where we were not present.
This photo of Doris Humphrey and her partner Charles Weidman taken in 1938 shows the strength and passion of movement that a dancer has within their soul. Doris looks as though she is floating on air, I feel a connection to this photo. Doris was not only a dancer but a photojournalist as well. I always loved dancing; after years of competitive training and work I felt confident and I was floating on air. The joy in her expression and the lighting represent her passion of the square dance taking place.
